I think of Spirulina as Poseidon's food!

With its hyper high protein content of over 60%, what seems like an excessive amount of Vitamins & Minerals, and being consumed by fish and animals... can you blame me?!

Origin of Spirulina

The blue-green algae (cyanobacterium) known as Spirulina has become extremely popular these last few years for the nutritional benefits it brings to animals, fish and humans.

It is not only a good source of energy and protein, but also very complete organic food supplement thanks to its huge amount of vitamins and minerals... all in one beautiful green package!

Recipe Ideas using spirulina powder

Spirulina energy bites: blend 1 cup of dried fruits/seeds mix with 1/3 cup of almond butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 teaspoons of Spirulina and a pinch of salt until sticky. Roll into small balls and refrigerate overnight in order to have little slow energy release snacks on the ready!

My personal favourite: simply sprinkle Spirulina powder on either sweet or salty popcorn for a unique and nutritious snack infront of a movie!
